Posted by: Kelly Shina on July 1, 2003

Name: Foska Sajina; Jodnic Sajina
Location: Sajini, Pazin, Istria, Croatia

Foska was my grandfather's mother - he was born sometime in mid-late 1800's and died in 1954. My grandfather was born in 1893, in Istria, moved to US. He had at least 2 brothers, one named Antonio, and one sister. I believe he had a nephew named Alojz who was in the Yugo. Nat'l army in 1954. A sister or sister in law named Antonija, an aunt named Jodnic. They lived on a farm in Sajini, near Pazin.

...Sedak; Sedek

Posted by: Sandy Metcalf on January 20, 2003

Name: Ignace Sedak; Sedek
Location: Zabno, Austria (Croatia)

This is my great grandfather - My grandfather's name could be Stefan Sedek or Sadek. I found documentation that my grandfather mentioned Stivans or St. Ivans. There was also references to Zsbor, Hungary, and Grozevac, Croatia and Krizevic, Croatia.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Stefan Sedek immigrated to the US in 1909 at the approximate age of 19. Could St. Ivans be a church or orphanage in Zsbor??

My father's family is from Medimurje near the city of Cakovec. My father's name is August and his brother's name is Ivica. My father passed away in 1983 and I never met my uncle and his three children. I believe my uncle is in an old age home in Slovenia and I would love to meet my cousins.

IN Cakovec, or NEAR it? - if you know the exact name of the place, i could possibly help you a little further .... or, do you know the name of the place where your uncle is?

My grandfather was born in Franklin NJ (USA) August 15,1907. His name was Frank (Franjo) Severinski. Soon after he was born his family returned to Europe. He returned to the US in the early 1930's. He was married and had 2 sons.

The only person I know of that lived in Yugoslavia (Croatia) was his sister. She lived at this address in 1976:

Berica Severinski
47322 Vrbovsko
Gorski Kotar
Yugoslavia
Europa
I think this is my grandfather's sister Berica.

On the back of the photograph there is a stamp:

Any help would be great, I would like to know the rest of my fathers family. I can be reached at: sunnymarcie@yahoo.com

Name: Francis Severinski-Mihelac
Location: Gorski Kotar

I have recently found my great grandparents marriage certificate. A friend of mine found a listing for their marriage in some church records. They were in the Calumet, Houghton county Michigan area. On the church record my great grandfather is listed as Francis Severinski-Mihelac. I would like to know how the Mihelac name is part of my family's name.
Check out my web page and please e-mail me at: sunnymarcie@yahoo.com

Comitat Severin, Zrinski Counts...........
I need a history lesson. I have not been able to locate information on the above topic.
Could someone tell me about the Zrinski Counts and the Comitat Severin?

Webmistress' comment

Prompted by a query from Edward Skender, there is a bit of history, as well as some historical facts about the time of Petar Zrinski in Gorski kotar, leading from our Questions & Answers page - hope you'll find it of interest
