Nancy,

I don't know if this will help you at all, but my grandfather was from Delnice. He was Nikola Majnaric, and was the illigitimate son of Katarina Majnaric (some things just don't change!)

Katarina was born on June 28, 1867. She eventually married Yuri (George) Kezele on April 15, 1891. They had 4 children 3 of which died after birth. They had a daughter Anna who died at the age of 12 on August 6, 1903.

After Katrina died Yuri Kezele married a second time to Marija Tomac. I don't know if there were any children from that marriage.

My grand father immigrated in 1907 and eventually changed his name to Nick Richardson.
I corresponded with an old women in Delnice about 10 years ago but during the war, I lost track of her. She doesn't speak any English and her letters were in Croatian, but her name was Katarina Majnaric at Supilova ulica broj 214, Delnice Croatia.

There is a Catholic Church at Delnice that survived the war, and still has records available, but I don't have the address, shouldn't be hard to find though.

Hope this helps some, please let me know how your search goes.

Nick Richardson

Hi there
Happened to write Kezele on the net just to see what would come up.
My name is Marina Kezele, my father (Ivan Kezele, born in Delnice, Gorski kotar.
Kezele is a very unusual name in Croatia, apart from in Delnice and I know that there are a lot of families Kezele. My grandmothers name was Katarina Kezele (Marinkini, born 1899), my grandfathers name was Antun Kezele.
I don't know if you've ever been to Croatia and Delnice but I used to go there every summer.
I visited the cemetery and there were a lot of Kezeles I can tell you...
I know my brother has a book about Delnice where you can look up names.
Give me some more information and I will try to help you.
By the way, I live in Sweden

My grandfather is Kazimer Kezele; he was born in 1912 in the coal-mining area of New Mexico, and lives in Bellevue, WA now. I have been told that on a trip to Croatia (then Yugoslavia) he and my grandmother Lois were informed that the surname Kezele is of Hungarian Gypsy extraction.
The family has a partial history written up, and a number of photos. I was just surfing around when I found you. I will see about getting you in touch with family members who are more active in recording it's history (that is, if you aren't that person and I've failed to recognize you).

I'm from Canada,Toronto but my grandfather is from Gorski kotar. His name is Ivan Kezele. I don't know what year he was born. He moved to Zagreb and married Ljerka Manz. They had one son, Douglas (Darko) Kezele, my father. They divorced in 1944 and he immigrated to Canada. I don't know anything about him and I would like to get some information about the families Kezele/Manz.
We would be very grateful for any information available.
Thank You

My great great grandmother's maiden name was Kezele. I do not know her first name; she married a Kucan (or Kuchon); her daughter was my great-nana Antionette Kuchon Andlar of Delnice. She married Nicholas Andlar, arrpox 1898-1900. They immigrated to Gallup, New Mexico where they were ranchers. They had 8 children, some of which were born in Delnice - Joe, Nicki, Sara and Mary - the rest were born here, Dora (my Nana), Grace and Anna. There was another child named "Chick" - have no idea what Slavic name that translates to! I live in Oregon - would love to hear anything!

"Chick" = pile, or pilence :-)

Since many of visitors to these pages are not fluent in croatian, and might find the grammatical endings particularly of names rather confusing, i will take the liberty of roughly translating Dalibor Kezele's note, as follows:-

Greetings to all with the surname of Kezele

My grandfather, Matija Kezele, was also a Marinkin, married to Ursula nee Tomac.

Anton (died at Kirkland Lake in Canada) whose daughterıs married name is Levinski

Hazel Baldassari Kezele 35 married my dad's first cousin Frank Jurkovich in Hancock MI 7 Aug 1954. She was from Franklin Mine MI. Both are deceased and buried in Forest Hill Cemetery Houghton MI. Don't know if she would be in your family tree. I was in Upper MI last July and researched families in MI Tech Univ. Archives. Great records there. Courthouse, cemetery and funeral home people friendly and helpful. MI Tech requires their form to research for you. There is a charge.

Name 1: Kezele
Name 2: Andler; Gunjaca
Location: Fuzine; Delnice, Gorski kotar

My Great Grandmother was a Kezele. She married Nikula Andler (Andlar) in Fuzine in about 1893-1894. They moved to Delnice, then here to the US about 1898. They settled in New Mexico.

I am trying to find anyone with family that worked in the coal mines of New Mexico in the mid-1920's and lost a relative in a mining accident near Madrid, New Mexico. My Grandmother, Dora Andler, married a Steve Gunjaca of Dalmatia, in 1923, then was killed in an accident there in 1925.

Posted by: Bill Phillips on April 17, 2003 - Kezele (Kuzele?)

I had some relatives from the area around Gorski Kotar and Kocevje (Slovenia) by the name of Kuzele, which seems to be exceedingly unusual. I am wondering if Kuzele is the same name as Kezele. Their American names were Tom, Julia and Millie. Their father (given name unknown) married Mary (Marija?) Pajnic, who was related to my Grandmother, Veronika Pajnic (a/k/a Peinitsch).
