Antun Gersy was born in 1923 in Zagreb, Croatia, where he matriculated and studied Law. From 1949 to 1957 he is active as a reporter and photographer in ìVjesnikî, the leading newspaper in Zagreb.

Alongside he is actively occupied with research into innovative applications of colour photography as well as silkscreening. Wishing to utilize this new technology in the graphic industry during the fifties, he introduced this art into various printing concerns in Zagreb.

In 1962 he emigrates to South Africa where he proceeds to bring the art form of enameling, glass and decorative printing on porcelain to perfection. Inordinately intrinsic and well versed with technology, he achieves great success and admiration in business as well as with numerous exhibitions.

Upon his return to Zagreb in 1973 he is accepted into the ULUPUH (Artistís Association of Croatia) where he continues as an independent artist, transferring his vast experience and indepth knowledge to young aspiring artists.
